Head Gate was built at the same time as Seriousness and Consonance Hall was built (1456-1462). It was renovated in 1825 and again in 1988.

The Back Hall was built, destroyed by fire, and rebuilt at the same time as Planting Virtue Hall. The rooms were used to hold meetings at which lineage members decided on family business.
