Description of Dongyang Commandery, from the History of the Sui Dynasty
Dongyang Commandery. [In 589 when Sui] subdued Chen it established Wu Prefecture. Overseeing four counties. Registered households: 19,805.
Jinhua county
Formerly called Changshan [Long Mountain]. [Sui] placed Jinhua Commandery here. When it subdued the Chen dynasty the commandery was abolished. In addition [Sui] abolished the three counties of Jiande, Taimo, and Feng'an and incorporated them into [Changshan] and changed its name to Wuning County . In the twelfth year (592) it changed its name to Dongyang. In the eighteenth year (598) it changed its name to [Jinhua]. At the beginning of the Daye period (605) it placed the Dongyang Commandery here. There is a Long Mountain, Lou Mountain, and a Qiu Mountain . There is a Red Pine Torrent.
