The upper portion of the first gate 'Regional Commissioner' refers to Lu Zhongdian, who served as Guangdong Provincial Administration Commissioner in the Ming Dynasty. The arch was erected by Zhang Wenxi, Regional Inspector of Zhejiang Province, in 1577 and restored in 1997. The two characters in red at the top of the arch mean 'Grace and Honor (granted by the Emperor)'. |
